Best file type to save images as for portfolio?

So I am an architecture student and am constructing a portfolio. I have a lot of photos, images both scanned and from the web. What is the best file type, (jpg, tiff, png, etc) that i should save them as for both clarity in printed copy as well as in digital copy, as well as its best compatibility with Adobe CS5 components? and why?
