Why does my boyfriend keep bring this up?

ok, no offense, but ur boyfriend needs to get a little more self esteem. He should be really happy that u like him for his personality! it shows ur not shallow like the rest of society. If it was based on looks, relationships would never last since looks change, but ur personality is who you are and what makes you, you. He should realize this and be thankful u like him for HIM not his looks.
