Apparently, it has been at LEAST 6 months since you've lived together. That is a huge mistake, especially so early in a marriage. Either you need to move in with him in Scotland, or he needs to move back with you. The distance has created emotional distance between you. Physical separation over such a long period is bad for a marriage!
